Privacy Policy
Tech with Glory is a learning platform run by Glory Benson (“I”, “me” or “my”). I take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what personal data the platform collects when you use techwithglory.com, why it is collected, how it is protected and the rights you have.
The platform handles personal data in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (EU GDPR) and the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA).
If you have any questions about this policy or your data, email info@techwithglory.com.
1. Who is responsible for your data
Tech with Glory is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can get in touch at info@techwithglory.com.
2. Data the platform collects
When you join the early-access list
- Your email address and your consent to receive emails about the learning series.
- The date and time you signed up, your IP address, and your browser and device type. These are recorded with each sign-up to help prevent spam and abuse.
When you create a student account
- Your first name, last name, username, email address and password. Passwords are stored in encrypted form and cannot be viewed by anyone.
- Any details you choose to add to your profile, such as a photo or a short bio.
When you learn on the platform
- The courses you are enrolled in, the lessons you complete and your progress.
- Your quiz answers and scores.
- Code challenge submissions, including any code, text or files you submit for review, and the feedback and marks you receive.
- Notes, questions and discussion posts you write on the platform.
When the platform emails you
- A record of the emails sent to you and, where available, whether an email was opened or a link in it was clicked. This helps show which updates are most useful.
Monthly live check-ins
- Live check-ins take place on a video conferencing service. If a session is recorded, the recording may include your name, voice, video and chat messages if you choose to turn on your camera or microphone or post in the chat. You will always be told at the start of a session when it is being recorded.
The in-browser code editor
Code you write in the platform’s code editor runs on your own device. It is not sent to the platform unless you choose to include it in a code challenge submission.
3. How your data is used and the legal basis
Your personal data is only used where the law allows it. The platform relies on the following legal bases:
- Consent: to send you updates about the learning series, including the welcome email and launch announcements. You give consent by ticking the box on the sign-up form, and you can withdraw it at any time.
- Contract: to create and manage your student account, enrol you in courses, track your progress, review your submissions and send you messages about your account and courses.
- Legitimate interests: to keep the platform secure, prevent spam and misuse, fix problems and improve the courses, for example by understanding which lessons are completed and where learners need more support. This basis is only relied on where it does not override your rights.
- Legal obligation: where certain information must be kept or shared by law.
Tech with Glory does not sell your personal data, does not use it for advertising and does not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing.
4. Who your data is shared with
Your personal data is never shared with anyone for their own marketing. It is only shared with carefully selected service providers that help run the platform, such as providers of website hosting, email delivery, content delivery and video conferencing. These providers act on the platform’s instructions, may only use your data to provide their services, and are required to keep it secure and confidential.
Information may also be disclosed where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect the rights, safety or property of Tech with Glory, its learners or others.
5. International transfers
Some service providers may process personal data outside the UK or the European Economic Area. When this happens, appropriate safeguards are put in place, such as an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses approved by the relevant authorities, so that your data receives the protection required by law.
6. How long your data is kept
- Early-access list: until you unsubscribe or ask for your details to be deleted.
- Student account and learning records: for as long as your account is active. If you ask for your account to be deleted, your data will be deleted or anonymised within 30 days, unless something must be kept to meet a legal obligation.
- Live check-in recordings: for as long as the course they belong to is available.
- Security and sign-up records: no longer than 12 months.
7. Cookies
The platform only uses cookies that are strictly necessary for it to work, such as cookies that keep you signed in to your account, remember your progress and help keep the site secure and fast. These cookies do not require your consent. The platform does not currently use advertising or analytics cookies. If that changes, this policy will be updated and your consent will be requested before they are set.
8. Your rights
Under data protection law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data held about you and receive a copy;
- Rectify data that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- Erase your data;
- Restrict how your data is used;
- Object to the use of your data where it is based on legitimate interests;
- Data portability, which means receiving your data in a structured, commonly used format;
- Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting anything done before you withdrew it.
Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. To exercise any other right, email info@techwithglory.com. You will receive a response within one month. Your identity may need to be confirmed before a request is acted on.
If you are unhappy with how your data has been handled, please get in touch first so the issue can be put right. You also have the right to complain to a data protection authority: in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk); in the EU, the supervisory authority in the country where you live or work; and in Nigeria, the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (ndpc.gov.ng).
9. Children
You must be at least 16 years old to sign up or create a student account. The platform does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child under 16 has shared their details, please get in touch and they will be deleted.
10. How your data is protected
Appropriate technical and organisational measures are in place to protect your personal data against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. These include encrypted connections, encrypted password storage and restricted access to administrative systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password for your account and keep it private.
11. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated from time to time, for example when new features are added to the platform. When a significant change is made, the effective date above will be updated and, where appropriate, you will be notified by email.
